
Lakhtova Kata
(1924-1995)
The first female President of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia.
She was a participant in the National Liberation War and after the war held several political and state positions. She advocated for the development of socio-political and economic life and for the dominant role of the working class. Lakhtova, among other things, was the president of the Conference for Women's Social Activity, a member of the Secretariat of the Federal Committee for the Social Status of Women in Yugoslavia, a delegate to the Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, to the Assembly of the SFRY and president of the Socio-Political Committee of the Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Macedonia. She held the position of president of the Assembly of the Republic from 1984 to 1985 and is the only president to date.
